A little bit about Richard Branson
Richard Branson is the owner and founder of Virgin Galactic group. He was born in the United Kingdom in 1950. Branson has challenged himself with many record breaking adventures such as crossing the atlantic ocean in the fastest time ever, and going in a hot air balloon across the English Channel. He has written six books and is the only person to build eight billion dollar companies in eight different sectors.
How it all started
Before Richard Branson was the founder of the Virgin Galactic Group, he was already a rich man. He had his very own airline and he did many cool daredevil tricks. The USSR's ambassador in London made a proposition, if her would like to be the first tourist in space. It would require 18 months of training at Star City in Moscow, and would cost $50 million. To Branson, the price was a problem. He said no to the proposition, but he regretted it later. Afterwards, he became interested in the space tourism idea. He calculated that 95 percent of people would stick their hands up to go to space if they could afford it. Branson started to seriously explore the potential of space tourism. At the space line at Companies House in London, Will Whitehorn, attempted to register the Virgin identity, but he figured out that someone had already beaten him to it. Branson quietly trademarked the brand for use in space more than a decade earlier. Soon enough, Richard Branson emerged from a hangar on the outskirts of Mojave Air and Spaceport in California. Today, in the Final Assembly Integration and Test Hangar, also known as "Faith", is where the company's fleet of new vehicles will be assembled. There are more than 200 staff members working at the Virgin Group already, and more may come soon. Richard Branson is now a billionaire.
